I was watching a show on Discovery channel, about stories of people who nearly died and in essence shouldn't be alive today. This episode was about a team of 5 fishermen whose ship had sunk in storm. They were trying to survive as their ship had been floating into the middle of the Atlantic. They began to shiver as the water and the wind had been rapidly decreasing their body heat, as their heart could not race enough to keep up the energy they needed. They tried to stay under the boat to fight the wind but one person was claustrophobic and decided not to take part, so they had to tip the boat over and go inside. The girl that was claustrophobic had been cut by the boat on her leg and it the bacteria was spreading, slowly killing her, starting with her leg starting to die as you could see it. Then because of her wound, the blood, sharks had come to feast. There was a swarm of sharks, 15-25 swimming around their raft. Terrified, they had to try to keep their boat afloat and survive. After about 3 days without water or food, people started to hallucinate, and 2 of the members started drinking the salt water. This made them hallucinate even more, for now they were seeing things and one had jumped off the boat, swimming toward "his car". Miles away he had been attacked by a shark, as the members heard his shreaks and frightened by the episode in which they had no energy to get out the boat and force him against his will. Hours later, the other guy that drank the salt water as well had jumped off the boat and was hallucinating terribly in the water as a shark had attacked it under their boat. The members could hear and feel the attack under them and knew that the shark wanted them as well as the sharks tried to tip their boat over. That following night, in which this story really started to get to me, the girl with the wound had attacked the other two members, the only sane ones, and she had also been waving her hands around and started to speak. The two were trying to figure out what she was saying and then understood later that she had been speaking in tongues. This freaked me out. Because,
1. She was speaking tongues right before she was about to die, and this was not something from the spirit of God. This was her attacking people, freaking out, and acting uncontrollably. I can say without a doubt that this was from satan.
2. I realized that the reason evil takes place in this world is because of Satan, and our obedience to his thoughts, the obedience to curse God, the obedience to be selfish and prideful. That is why evil is in this world, not because of God!!
3. I also realized that I should hate satan, hate him with everything in me. If I want to hate, it is going to be hate against satan, not God. Even God hates satan, this is allowed. The only hate not allowed is the hate of God, ourselves, and our brethren.


This story gave me another outlook onto disaster, and even though our sinfulness is the fruit of pain, it is not were it all began. Sin began with satan, with his lies and our obedience to listen to him. There is something different between satan and a sinner, satan is NOT made in God's image, even though he may have been the most magnificient angel, he is not a child of God. We are not to hate ourselves, we are to hate the sin and hate satan who persuades people in the direction to disobey God, a God who wants to give us life not death.

2. Love others as yourself.

Do you think God calls satan to love himself? there is something different about humans and we should feel blessed in being loved by God, in being commanded to love Him and even moreso to love ourselves.
